Brazilian broadcaster Globo has secured a second Latin American deal for its latest soap opera Edge of Desire, which will now premiere in Uruguay.

The free-to-air (FTA) network Teledoce, also known as Canal 12, will start broadcasting the telenovela on 9 April.

After its strong ratings in Brazil, Edge of Desire has also had a successful premiere in Ecuador, where it is being aired in prime time by Ecuavisa.

Teledoce is one of Globo’s long-time partners in Latin America, having participated in the co-production of Supermax. The Uruguayan network has already aired other series and telenovelas of the Brazilian house, such as Brazil Avenue, The Illusionist and Precious Pearl.

Starring Juliana Paes, Paolla Oliveira and Isis Valverde, Edge of Desire recorded an average daily reach of 48 million viewers in Brazil. Over 65 million Brazilians tuned in to watch the last episode.
