The Romanian regulator ANCOM has imposed fines totalling RON1.052 million (€225,105) since the beginning of last year.
In a statement, it says that most (25, worth RON154,000)) were applied to cable network providers for non-compliance of the conditions set out in the General Authorisation. Nine, worth RON60,500, were applied to operators holding licences for the use of radio frequencies and the remaining 39, worth RON535,000, to, amongst others, providers of pay-TV services.
ANCOM notes that the largest fine amounted to RON200,000 and was imposed on Telekom Romania Mobile Communications in October 2017 for failing to comply with legal provisions on number portability.
Looking specifically at the first three months of this year, ANCOM has already performed 195 control actions on the electronic communications market. These have resulted in three fines totalling RON85,000, all imposed on the company SNR this month for non-compliance in the use of radio frequencies for DTT services.
