Produced by Red Arrow’s Spiral International and Dynamo, the Mexican crime series FALCO is to be exclusively streamed by Amazon Prime Video across Latin America.

The subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platform has reached a deal with Spiral International for the streaming rights of the series, based on the scripted format The Last Cop.

The series is showrun and directed by acclaimed Mexican filmmaker, director and screenwriter Ernesto Contreras, and it’s being co-produced by Dynamo, which has also produced Netflix’s Narcos and El Chapo, among other recent hits.

Currently being produced in Mexico City, FALCO is set to premiere later this year.

“FALCO will be an exciting cinematic experience across all its episodes,” said Contreras. “In the show, we have established an expressive and stylised language, including the nostalgia of the nineties - when Falco practically ceases to exist. Our primary objective is to create a special visual, audio and emotional universe to tell our story.”

“FALCO is an incredible story with a gritty and realistic look at police work in today’s Mexico City,” pointed out Pablo Iacoviello, head of Latin America content acquisition, Amazon Prime Video. “Amazon is committed to bringing unique and locally relevant stories to Prime Video members across Latin America.”

Henrik Pabst, president of Red Arrow Studios International, added: “We are delighted that FALCO has found such a great home in Latin America with Amazon, and are excited to be launching the series at MIPTV to the rest of the world.”
