Telemundo launches World Cup-oriented wellness effort for young Hispanics

NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises has launched of El Campeón en Ti (The Champion Within You), a company-wide campaign under the banner of its corporate social responsibility initiative, focused on empowering young Hispanics to achieve their full potential and find their inner champion through sports.
As the exclusive US Spanish-language home of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, Telemundo’s El Campeón en Ti will focus its first efforts on fútbol, investing more than a quarter of a million dollars and partnering with the US Soccer Foundation, Alianza U Foundatio n and local community organizations to expand access to organized soccer for underserved Latino youth.
In partnership with the US Soccer Foundation’s Soccer for Success programme, Telemundo’s El Campeón en Ti will help provide more than 20,000 children the opportunity to play football and reap its many benefits in cities across the country, including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Miami, San Antonio, Houston, Phoenix, Washington, DC, Orlando and Dallas. As part of the campaign, Telemundo will partner with the Alianza U Foundation for El Campeón en Ti Scholarships to advance Latino educational attainment, recognise young athletes and celebrate academic excellence, leadership skills and the pursuit of educational goals.
