Univision Deportes is covering Mexico's national team’s preparation matches for the Russia 2018 World Cup.
Targeting US Hispanic fans, the preparation games feature Mexico against two European qualified teams, Iceland and Croatia.
The first of the games, against the Nordic nation, has been just broadcast live on Univision and UDN, counting on announcers Luis Omar Tapia and Paco Villa, analyst Diego Balado and expert commentary by former Mexico star, Pavel Pardo.
On 27 March, El Tri will face Croatia in a rematch from the 2014 FIFA World Cup group phase in which Mexico beat the team of Modric and Rakitic by 3-1. The game will air live on UniMás and UDN.
These telecasts are one of the last chances for Univision to build on Hispanics’ fervour for the World Cup, as its arch-rival Telemundo holds the US Spanish-language TV rights to Russia 2018.
