Oxygen Media’s Aaron Hernandez Uncovered debuted in the US as the highest rated true crime programme in network history, averaging 1.05 million total viewers across its premiere episodes.
Aaron Hernandez Uncovered tells the story of the tragic death of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez from the viewpoint of those who knew him best. With interviews with Shayanna Hernandez, Aaron's fiancée and the mother of his only child, along with lead defence attorney Jose Baez, friends, former New England Patriots teammates, detectives, the prosecutor, the sheriff and the journalists who covered his story extensively, this cautionary tale strips away the layers to answer the many questions still left behind.
Part two of the docuseries became the most viewed telecast for the network in three years, with 1.25 million total viewers and broke records in the key demos for an Oxygen true crime programme with 585,000 persons 18-49 and 695,000 persons 25-54 tuning in. Across all Oxygen airings of Aaron Hernandez Uncovered during the premiere weekend, the programme reached 4.37 million total viewers and 1.88 million persons 18-49.
The show also is available on video-on-demand (VOD) and *** Oxygen.com *** to cable subscribers; the network said that there have been over 104,000 streams of the event series to-date on Oxygen’s digital platforms - setting a record since the network’s rebrand as a true-crime network.
