Sky New Zealand has become the exclusive home to HBO content across all platforms in New Zealand, following a deal between the companies.
"We have enjoyed a great relationship with HBO for many years and this deal shows the strength of the working partnership we have," said Travis Dunbar, director of entertainment, Sky.
"This sends a very strong signal to the market that HBO and Sky have a long term investment and commitment to ensure Kiwis have exclusive access to HBO content on Sky and Neon."
The content deal enables Sky subscribers to watch or stream new seasons of Westworld, Silicon Valley, Insecure, Veep, The Deuce and Room 104. In addition, new series Barry, Succession and Sharp Objects will launch this year, while 2019 will usher in new seasons of True Detective, Big Little Lies and the final instalment of Game of Thrones.
Dunbar said Sky is also working with HBO to be able to offer HBO Download to Go. When complete, customers will have the option to temporarily load programmes to a tablet or phone to watch when away from their set-top box. "We look forward to sharing further information on this over the coming months," he said.
