Pay-TV and digital entertainment services service protection firm Conax has landed its first win for its secure over-the-top (OTT) multiscreen solution in the Latin American region with Uruguayan cable pay-TV operator Montecable.

Launched in December 2017, Montecable’s MC GO Live is a multiscreen OTT service designed to enable subscribers to watch live TV channels and streaming video play services anywhere in Uruguay on iOS or Android mobile devices. It offers start-over and catch-up with full electronic programme guide functionality on live TV channels enabling a 24/7 service. Montecable customers also have access to HBO GO, Fox Play and ESPN Play through MC GO Live. The service is currently offered free-of-charge to Montecable’s cable-TV customers subscribing to the operator’s high-definition channel.

Conax says that it enables the new Montecable MC GO Live service by pre-integrating partner technology with its Contego security platform to create an end-to-end OTT solution, ready to deploy in less than 30 days. Conax GO Live includes a content management system, analytics and white-label apps on iOS and Android devices.

In the context of Montecable’s content security operations, Contego works as a unified content security platform which handles both CAS and multi-DRM management from one back-end. Additional system integration for the project was delivered by regional partner Bold MSS.

“After making the decision to launch our OTT service, we wanted to move fast, while keeping high standards on quality, reliability and content security,” explained Montecable CEO Fabiana Orlotti. “Conax GO Live OTT solution was a perfect fit, enabling us to launch a selection of our best live-TV channels effortlessly on iOS and Android devices using the multi-DRM feature of our existing Conax Contego security platform.”
