As the Phoebe Waller-Bridge penned adaptation starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer goes global, Endeavor Content/IMG has secured sales in international territories for spy-action thriller series Killing Eve.
Based on the novellas by Luke Jennings, the drama centres on two women; Eve (Oh) is a pay-grade MI5 security officer whose desk-bound job doesn't fulfil her fantasies of being a spy. Villanelle (Comer) is a talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her. Killing Eve topples the typical spy-action thriller as these two fiercely intelligent women, equally obsessed with each other, go head to head.
The programme is produced by Sid Gentle Films for BBC America where it will première on 8 April. Phoebe Waller-Bridge serves as lead writer and executive producer. Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris are executive producers, with Colin Wratten serving as producer and Sandra Oh serving as associate producer.
Joining the BBC One deal for the UK by the scripted television and feature film financing, development and sales division of Endeavor, formerly WME I IMG, are sales to HBO Europe for Scandinavia, CEE, Spain, Portugal, and Portuguese-speaking Africa; HOT for Israel; and TVNZ for New Zealand.
"Killing Eve is original, sharp and grippingly adapted by Phoebe Waller-Bridge," said Gary Marenzi, head of head of entertainment sales and partnerships for Endeavor Content. "It's clear from our growing list of global partners on this show that audiences are hungry for fresh and subversive storytelling, and we're proud to have championed this project from its inception."
