Dori Media has licensed Lalola to Mexico’s Azteca and bought Argentinean series El Marginal (The Outsider) for global distribution.
Lalola, a series of 150 episodes originally produced in 2007 by Dori Media Contenidos, will now be remade by TV Azteca in Mexico. Dori Media will retain exclusive rights for the remake. The original series saw great success in Latin America, particularly in Argentina.
Nadav Palti, CEO of Dori Media Group, commented: “We are delighted to see another sale of Lalola to Mexico after its production a decade ago. Not only is it a highly replicable as a format, but it also is an exceptional content which has the potential to completely redefine the changing role of strong women in the society in these exciting times.”
In another deal, the company has agreed with Underground Producciones and Medios Públicos for the global distribution for the second season of the award-winning crime drama El Marginal. The deal follows the huge success of season one in the US, France, Latin America, the UK, Spain, Portugal, Poland and Israel.
“We believe that El Marginal’s high production standards and international appeal will see further success around the globe, as the audience want to know the story behind the events in the first season,” added Michal Nashiv.
Gonzalo Armendares, CEO of Underground Producciones, commented: “We hope that with Dori Media's distribution support internationally, we will surpass the success that our first season has achieved, and that our contents will explore new territories.”
