StudioCanal is unveiling the second season of Danish drama Ride Upon the Storm at MIPTV, along with a raft of sales to broadcasters in Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Europe.

The character-led story is set to air on M-Net in Africa, TVNZ in New Zealand, SBS Australia, Lumiere Benelux, RTVS Slovakia, NC+ Poland, LRT Lithuania and RTE Ireland, as well as a previously announced sale to Telefonica in Spain. Arte also broadcasts the programme to French- and German-speaking Europe.

Ride Upon The Storm centres on family relationships, the exploration of good and evil, and the search for spiritual harmony. Produced by Denmark’s DR Drama in co-production with ARTE France and SAM le Français, the series is written and created by BAFTA Award-winner Adam Price (Borgen). The drama is produced by Camilla Hammerich (Borgen) and stars Lars Mikkelsen (House of Cards).

“This highly-produced, intense and glossy drama plays out extremely well in the schedules of top-quality channels. Family dramas are truly universal and, with its unique setting and narrative Ride Upon The Storm it is ultimately very relatable to viewers in different parts of the world. We know that complex family relationships are piquing interest at the moment and we are delighted to have a further season of this dynamic drama series to offer our clients at MIPTV,” said Beatriz Campos, head of international sales, StudioCanal.

Vivendi-owned StudioCanal will also launch a second series of political drama Baron Noir, staring Kad Merad, at MIPTV.
