PCCW-owned video-on-demand (VOD) service Viu is launching an original series for South Asian expats residing in the Middle East.
Produced by Elite Films, the eight-episode series, Music Garage, will feature six aspiring bands and singers from across the region, including performers from the UAE, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Turkey and Tajikistan, performing in Hindi and Urdu.
In each episode, one band and one singer will perform, following a public vote. The seventh episode will re-cap the contenders’ performances, and the final will feature those voted the most popular male singer, female singer and band. 106.2 Big FM radio will feature interviews with the performers, and viewers can also share their votes via a WhatsApp message to the station.
“Launching Music Garage is a prominent milestone for Viu and is a testament to our mission to create compelling content for specific audiences in this very diverse market. Music Garage also gives us an opportunity to profile great talent in the region that might otherwise not have the benefit of this exposure,” said Wesam Kattan, vice president content and brand marketing, Vuclip MENA, on the launch.
To increase audience share, the programme will be simultaneously broadcast each Saturday on leading regional Indian channels Zee TV Middle East and on &TV Middle East.
