Distribution house Beta Film has reached an agreement with pay-TV network Starz to premiere Movistar+’s La Zona in the US.
Broadcast in Spain during the last quarter of 2017, La Zona has rapidly increased its international reach, being set to premiere in most of Europe, including France (Canal+) and Germany (ZDF).
In addition, it has aired in 12 countries in Latin America through the recently launched Movistar Series pay-TV signal and the over-the-top (OTT) service Movistar Play.
Created by brothers Jorge and Alberto Sánchez Cabezudo, the TV show will now be part of Starz programming in the US, becoming one of the few non-English contents broadcast by the Lionsgate-owned, cable and satellite network.
Anticipating its global success, the series’ pilot episode was internationally showcased at the Sitges Film Festival, an international event focused on the horror genre, held from 5-15 October 2017.
