NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises has announced the official inauguration of Telemundo Centre, the company’s global headquarters in Miami, Florida.
Two years after announcing a $250 million investment, the headquarters will become the media company’s central multimedia production facility with news, sports, entertainment, studios, international and digital all under one roof.
According to the NBCUniversal company, Telemundo Centre aims to become the epicentre of Hispanic activity and the leading authority on the fastest growing demographic in the US.
The facility includes 15 studios, two of which are digital, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) sets, and a state-of-the-art news operation. The new headquarters will house production of Telemundo’s weekday prime time programming, news programmes and sports shows.
Telemundo Centre will be key for the company’s programming related to the FIFA World Cup as Telemundo and Universo will broadcast the 64 games in the Spanish-language and produce over 1,000 hours of Russia 2018 content.
“Telemundo Centre is the manifestation of our commitment to the Hispanic market and a representation of our core values of innovation, collaboration and transparency,” said Cesar Conde, chairman, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and NBCUniversal International Group. “Latinos are a growing cultural, political and economic force influencing every aspect of our country. Telemundo Centre is the only facility that can fuel the preferences and demands of this dynamic audience.”
The facility aims also to serve as a hub for thought leadership on and for the Hispanic community, hosting top researchers and speakers on issues of importance to today’s US Hispanics.
