Univision, Telemundo and Mexicanal will cover live the first debate between the presidential candidates at the upcoming Mexican election.

Organised by the Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE), the first debate will be held in Mexico City today (21 April) and will be live broadcast in Mexico and the US, targeting the Mexican nationals living there.

According to the INE, over half a million Mexicans living in the US have already registered to vote in the elections on 1 July.

The debate among the five main candidates will be moderated by the TV journalists Denisse Maerker (Televisa), and Sergio Sarmiento (TV Azteca), as well as Azucena Uresti (Milenio).

Between 8pm (ET) and 5pm (PST), Mexican Networks, Univision and Telemundo will follow the political action. The NBCUniversal network has even delayed the anticipated premiere of the Luis Miguel series so that it does not clash with the debate.
