Tasked by parent company Blue Ant Media with building a new development and production slate for his company Jonathan Levi has been appointed as Creative Director of Antenna Pictures.
The London production company was founded in 2016, developing and producing what it calls “daring and ambitious” series, specials and formats with a focus on younger skewing networks. Recent productions include The Sidemen Show for YouTube Premium (co-produced with Blue Ant Digital Studios), Orangutan Jungle School for Channel 4 (co-produced with NHNZ) and Is Love Racist? for Channel 4.
Levi arrives at Antenna Pictures from Warner Brothers’ factual label Renegade, with credits that include forthcoming factual drama series, Hatton Garden, Ross Kemp: Armed Police and the critically-acclaimed Transformation Street, all for ITV; CBBC doc series, School of Rock; Used Car Wars for Dave and ITV2’s innovative, factual entertainment format, Evil Monkeys. he has also served in previous executive roles at ITV Studios as head of arts and popular culture and executive producer of The South Bank Show.
Operating out of Antenna’s London, UK office, Levi has been tasked with building a new development and production slate for Antenna Pictures, broadening the company’s offering to include more entertainment and factual entertainment programming, working closely with managing director Jago Lee.
“Since our launch in 2016, Antenna has built a reputation as an internationally-facing company, working with new platforms and younger-skewing channels,” Lee remarked. “We want to build a presence in the UK market where smart storytelling and thoughtful formats are in vogue in a big way. Jonathan’s mischievous, journalistic sensibility and past success launching new shows makes him the perfect creative to lead this charge.”
