Es’hail-2 ready for launch

Qatar satellite company Es’hailSat has confirmed the safe arrival of its Es’hail-2 craft at the SpaceX launch facility at Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, USA in preparation for launch on 15 November 2018.

The craft is now undergoing final preparation at the SpaceX launch facility for launch on board a Falcon 9 rocket. Lift-off is planned with a launch window starting at 20:46 GMT on 15 November and ending at 22:29.

Built by Mitsubishi Electric Company (MELCO), based on is DS 2000 satellite bus, Es’hail-2 has a modular platform with capability and flexibility for a range of applications. In addition to offering Ku-band capacity to support the growing 25.5/26.0 degrees East broadcast neighbourhood, Es’hail-2 also features multi-transponder Ka-band capacity with, and revealing a perennial problem for the region, anti-jamming capabilities. The spacecraft has a design life of at least 16 years.
