Twenty-First Century Fox has extended its carriage rights deal with Major League Baseball in the US, ensuring access to the sport's biggest games on the Fox cable networks for years to come.

Fox Sports and Fox Deportes will be "the home to baseball's marquee events for the next decade," the company said, noting that the deal extends the licencing agreement to 2028 (it previously was set to expire in 2021).

21CF did not offer additional details on the deal, other than to say that it will retain exclusive TV broadcast rights to the World Series, one League Championship Series, two Division Series and the All-Star Game.

The arrangement also expands digital rights for 21CF; however, again, terms were not revealed. It may have to share territory: In May, Sports Illustrated TV said that it had inked a licencing deal with the MLB that will give it access to MLB’s library of games, documentaries and shows.

The companies also said that, beginning in 2022, the amount of regular-season and postseason games televised on FOX will increase.

Meanwhile, ESPN and Turner have tandem deals for MLB carriage.
