UK-based global rights collection agency 560 Media has signed a five-year secondary-rights management deal with the distribution arm of Banijay Group, Banijay Rights, representing more than 20,000 hours of programming across all genres.

Under the contract, 560 Media will manage the collection of Banijay Rights’ international revenues through secondary television rights exploitation, including retransmission, educational off air, recording levy and private-copy levies.

“Banijay is quite simply an industry giant, whose deep catalogue is not only a creative gold mine, but a valuable seam of secondary-rights revenues,” commented 560 Media CEO John O’Sullivan. “We look forward to helping Tim and his team to manage their rights in today’s fragmented and increasingly complex marketplace.”

Added Banijay CEO Tim Mutimer: “As Banijay Group and Banijay Rights continue to grow, the revenues that we earn through secondary exploitation become ever more valuable and we trust John and his team to deliver strong results and best in class reporting to us.”

In a separate deal, Banijay’s children’s distribution subsidiary, Zodiak Kids, has also opted for 560 Media’s revenue-management services.
