Operator SpaceX has confirmed the successfully launch of Es’hailSat’s Es’hail-2 satellite from complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in Florida.

Lift-off of the Falcon 9 rocket. occurred at 20:46 GMT, and the satellite was deployed to a geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) about 32 minutes after leaving the launch pad.

Built by Mitsubishi Electric Company (MELCO), based on is DS 2000 satellite bus, Es’hail-2 has a modular platform with capability and flexibility for a range of applications. In addition to offering Ku-band capacity to support the growing 25.5/26.0 degrees East broadcast neighbourhood, Es’hail-2 also features multi-transponder Ka-band capacity with, and revealing a perennial problem for the region, anti-jamming capabilities. The spacecraft has a design life of at least 16 years.

The spacecraft’s multi-mission architecture is designed to enable Es’hailSat to respond to demand for applications in the Middle East and North Africa, including content transfer and broadcast distribution.
