Amazon integrates NexGuard forensic watermarking into CloudFront

Aiming to find an improved way to fight illegal distribution of video content from streaming services that use its platform, Amazon has beefed up its CloudFront content delivery network with Nagra NexGuard watermarking technology.

The integrated solution is designed to enable session-based watermarking when streaming content to devices such as PCs, tablet, connected TV, and game consoles without requiring any change in the player applications. NexGuard technology creates a unique watermark for each session on live and file-based video streams, enabling service providers to fight illegal redistribution of their content. The solution supports leading DRM methods such as Apple HLS, MPEG-DASH and Nagra PRM. Nagra is also offering anti-piracy monitoring and cloud-based watermark detection services to identify and stop pirate sources in near real-time.

The combined solution has already seen commercial deployment by a major Hollywood studio. Nagra says that it has enabled the content owner to stream its video content to viewers across the world in an efficient and highly scalable way, while securing robust security and traceability of its premium assets.
