The eSports scene in Switzerland is booming: No longer just die-hard eAthletes, but also more and more casual gamers or even people who are not usually gamers at all are interested in the eSports movement. The sports channel MySports has taken account of this trend and developed a programme format specifically designed for these so-called “casuals” and “noobies.” “Good Game - die Esports-Revolution” is starting on 26 November 2018 at 10.15 pm on MySports One. The season includes twelve 15-minute episodes at present.

Within the last months, eSports has gained a foothold in Switzerland as well. Currently around 1.1 million Swiss residents or 14% of the population engage in computer games on a regular basis. However, more than three fourths of these, or about 850,000 Swiss residents, do not have a competitive focus, but rather only devote themselves to the topic sporadically.

Good Game - die Esports-Revolution” – eSports explained clearly
The new format on MySports One addresses exactly these casual gamers, as well as anyone with a general interest. In each of the 15-minute episodes the programme devotes itself to a specific game, explains the goals and operating principles, but also takes a look at relevant historical background. Passionate gamers and experts share their perspective, as do absolutely gaming-abstinent passers-by who try to fathom the sense (or nonsense) of the respective game.

Entertaining addition to the existing eSports offerings
It is the stated aim of MySports and esports.ch, the producers of the new format, to give viewers an understanding of the world of eSports in an entertaining way. The entertainment aspect gets at least as much attention as the games being introduced. Steffi Buchli, Director of Programming, MySports: “With ‘Good Game - die Esports-Revolution’ we have found the ideal format for expanding the Monday eSports block on MySports. The new format ideally complements the ‘Arena eSports’ programme which was successfully introduced in October 2017.”

“Good Game - die Esports-Revolution” will be aired every Monday at 10.15 pm on the MySports One channel, starting on 26 November 2018. The format will reach approximately 1.4 million Digital TV customers of UPC and selected distribution partners throughout Switzerland. The programme is supported by the media partner 20 Minuten and by Postfinance as main sponsors. Selected contributions from “Good Game - die Esports-Revolution” will regularly be incorporated on esports.ch as well, with more in-depth content and with additional information from other channels such as social media, print or Web content.
