Zee Entertainment’s content syndication arm Global Content Hub by Zee is embarking on a co-production deal with Nigerian agency MACE to make a localised version of long running Indian drama Pavitra Rishta.
The series, titled Deceptive Measures for the African audience and now in production, is set to air on Ghana’s Multimedia Group’s channels Joy Prime and Adom TV.
The story revolves around a middle-class girl, who is not highly educated and yet everyone in her home is dependent on her. Only her brother and her mother truly value her. However, her mother’s sole aim is to find her daughter a suitable alliance.
Filmed in Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria, with 52-part first season will star Michael Godson and Joy Jasmin Aygeman (Adomaa). The series will be directed by Uduak Obong.
“Global Content Hub by Zee is thrilled to announce our special partnership with Nigeria’s MACE and Ghana’s Multimedia Group for the remake of our Indian programme Pavitra Rishta, sharing this beloved story with new audiences across Africa. It will be exciting to see how they adapt the series into their own identity,” said Sunita Uchil, chief business officer, international ad sales, Global Syndication and Production, ZEEL.
“With this, we mark our foray in creating local programmes for local audiences. We also look forward to creating more partnerships throughout this continent.”
