One of Europe’s leaders in production, distribution and international sales of TV series and feature films, Studiocanal, has concluded new international deals for Movistar+ original drama series Instinto.

Instinto is a thriller starring Mario Casas (The 33) as Marco, a tormented young businessman who regularly escapes to a private club to fulfil his fantasies. A place where no one knows anyone. Instinto is created by executive producers Ramón Campos and Teresa Fernández-Valdés, and Domingo Corral is executive producer for Movistar. The drama is directed by Carlos Sedes and is based on an original idea by Teresa Fernández-Valdés, who also serves as co-writer along with Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira.

The drama is the first series produced by Bambú Producciones —the team behind the Spanish series Velvet, Velvet Collection, Cable Girls, Fariña and Grand Hotel — to be distributed by Studiocanal and the company’s first partnership with Movistar parent company Telefónica.

Studiocanal has worldwide rights, excluding Spain, to distribute the drama which will be available in Spring 2019. The new wins see pre-sales to Amazon Prime Video for the entire Latin American region, including Brazil. Amazon Prime Video will launch the eight-part drama after its debut on Movistar+ in Spain. Instinto will also debut on a first-run basis across the US on the premium Spanish-language platform Pantaya.

“It is testament to the exceptional quality of Bambú’s Instinto that we have already secured two major pre-sales at this early stage,” remarked Studiocanal’s head of international sales Beatriz Campos (pictured). “We are delighted to announce these sales to new partners Amazon Prime Video and Pantaya, and to highlight our growing relationships with HBO Europe and DirecTV with their acquisition of a package of compelling international dramas. Studiocanal’s premium drama series continue to be in demand with broadcasters worldwide. Produced in Europe by some of the hottest names in the business, these series are story-telling at its very best. Not only do they add brand value, but they are guaranteed to entertain viewers worldwide.”
