iflix to take Global Citizen Festival to Asia

Beyoncé & JAY-Z’s upcoming performance at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 will now stream in Asia, following a deal with video-on-demand (VOD) service iflix.
iflix viewers in 13 Asian countries will see performances on 2 December from Queen B & JAY-Z, along with Cassper Nyovest, D’banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Kasey Musgraves, Pharrell Williams & Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher, and Wizkid.
The festival, from international advocacy organisation Global Citizen, is taking place at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. Trevor Noah will host the event, with co-hosts Naomi Campbell, Dave Chappelle, Sir Bob Geldof, Gayle King, Bonang Matheba, Nomzamo Mbatha, Tyler Perry, and Forest Whitaker.
Oprah Winfrey will deliver a special keynote address celebrating Nelson Mandela and his legacy, joining festival goers who are calling on world leaders to honour their responsibilities in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and ending extreme poverty by 2030.
“Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 brings some of the world’s biggest and most powerful names in entertainment together in this historic, epic event celebrating the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. We are thrilled to partner with Global Citizen to make the event available to users across Asia for free, adding to our ever-growing premium live streaming event offerings,” said Craig Galvin, iflix global head of content.
Global leaders will also address the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100, including South African president Cyril Ramaphosa, Deputy Secretary-General of the UN Amina J. Mohammed, Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg and President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana. Dr Jim Kim, President of the World Bank, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, and David Beasley, Executive Director of the World Food Programme are among a host of other influencers speaking at the event.
iflix will take the festival to viewers in 13 countries and territories: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Brunei, Myanmar and the Maldives.
