Xbox consoles and Hisense TVs are now able to run the DStv Now video streaming service, following the launch of two new apps by South African pay-TV operator MultiChoice.
The online service available free to DStv pay-TV subscribers now registers more than two million plays of live and catch-up content each week. Many stream DStv Now on tablets and smartphones, however an increasing number also watch the service on additional TVs in the house, according to the company.
Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X gaming consoles and Hisense smart TV models dating from 2018 join existing DStv Now apps for Samsung smart TVs from 2015 onwards, LG smart TVs running webOS 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0, 4th generation Apple TV and newer versions, and media players running Google-certified Android TV.
“The simplest way to get DStv on additional TVs around the house is to use one of our dedicated smart TV or media player apps. With an uncapped internet connection there’s no additional cost, and with Wi-Fi, there’s no need to run any additional cables. It really is as straightforward as downloading the app, following the login steps, and start watching,” said Graeme Cumming, head of product for DStv Now.
