Following success in its domestic Australian market and subsequent deals in Latin America, content creator, producer and distributor Endemol Shine Group has inked the first European deal for culinary competition format Family Food Fight.

The format claims to take homestyle cooking to a new level as family recipes, rich in tradition and shared over generations, are put on display. Its maker says that rather than attempting five-star restaurant cuisine, the show focusses on relatable, yet aspirational, home-cooked meals, inspiring budding home cooks across the nation to don their aprons and get into the kitchen together. Yet only one family can claim the coveted title and take home a major cash prize.

Originally created by Endemol Shine Australia, Family Food Fight is an original format developed with Channel Nine. The show has sold to the US with ABC commissioning Endemol Shine North America to produce an eight part series which will air in 2019. In Argentina, a first series by Endemol Shine Latino is currently airing on Telefe with 40.8% primetime market share.

Now in Europe, Endemol Shine Nordics subsidiary Metronome has been commissioned to make a local Danish adaptation for Discovery, making it the fourth territory to launch the show.

“Family Food Fight was created by the talented creatives at Endemol Shine Australia and it’s brilliant our Danish team are leading the charge to bring the show to Europe,” said Lisa Perrin, CEO of creative networks at Endemol Shine Group. “It’s an engaging and inspirational culinary format and this deal reinforces Endemol Shine Group’s reputation as the home of popular cookery formats.”

Karin Sjarne, CEO of Endemol Shine Nordics added: “Culinary competition formats remain extremely popular across the Nordics and it’s brilliant that Denmark are the first European market to commission the series. Family Food Fight encourages wonderful multi-generational viewing for a broad audience and is fun and inclusive. This deal also cements our relationship with Discovery having just successfully launched All Together Now in the region with them.”
