Conscious Minds’ feature documentary Social Animals is set for multi-platform distribution, through a partnership with Gravitas Ventures.
On the heels of its debut at SXSW and garnering critical acclaim across prominent media outlets, Social Animals will see VOD distribution through Gravitas Ventures (a Red Arrow Studios company), beginning 11 December.
Helmed by Conscious Minds director/partner Jonathan Ignatius Green, Social Animals takes a compelling, unbiased look into the lives of three image-focused teens – a thrill-seeking, New York-based photographer, an aspiring swimsuit model in California and a Midwest girl next door – who have each built their individual brands and validated their existence through followers, likes and comments on Instagram.
Through their stories, the film explores how people have consciously and subconsciously learned to curate themselves as brands or media entities and the effect this phenomenon has on their identities.
“We wanted a firm that respected our film and the way we wanted to bring it to the world,” said Conscious Minds founder/Social Animals producer Blake Heal. “Gravitas is a digital distribution trailblazer with a track record of connecting talented filmmakers to a wide audience. They are a very hands-on shop that’s open to our ideas and marketing strategies as a creative studio ourselves. They saw our film and immediately saw the potential in how it could resonate with the audience.”
Gravitas Ventures www.gravitasventures.com CEO and founder, Nolan Gallagher, added: “We are always thrilled to work with proactive artist entrepreneurs like Conscious Minds. The topic of Social Animals could not be more timely and thought-provoking, and we look forward to introducing the film to appreciative audiences that demand exceptional storytelling.”
