Broadcaster Sony Pictures Networks (SPN) India and direct-to-home (DTH) operator Tata Sky have agreed a carriage deal to end almost two months of deadlock.
Tata Sky has agreed to reinstate all SPN India channels – 18 in standard definition and 11 in high definition – with immediate effect.
Differences over commercial terms had hampered a renewal of the carriage agreement between the two Indian media giants that expired on 31 July. As a result, Tata Sky had dropped 22 of the 29 SPN India channels from the bouquet and made them available to subscribers only on an a-la-carte basis.
The new agreement follows direction on 11 October from India’s Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) for the two parties to work out a “mutually acceptable” agreement within four weeks.
“Tata Sky has all Sony channels on the platform. There will be no extra charges. You can continue to enjoy your choice of entertainment as always. Thank you for your support and cooperation,” Tata Sky said in a message to a subscriber on Twitter.
