Production company SP Entertainment has acquired local rights in Portugal for prime time singing competition format The Four.
Developed and produced by Armoza Formats, the 90-120’ show sees singers selected by a panel of top music industry judges, who will ultimately select the best four. Yet in every episode, singers have to face talented hopefuls trying to steal their seat. Anyone can become a contestant at any time via submissions on the dedicated app, but only the best will be able to challenge the four. The four superstar-quality finalists will be announced in the season premiere.
Recently the US adaptation of the format, The Four: Battle For Stardom, was awarded the title of Best Talent Show at the National Film and TV Awards in Los Angeles.
“We are thrilled to be bringing this great format to Portugal,” commented Piethein Bakkar, managing director of SP Productions. "We believe that ‘The Four’ is ideal for the Portuguese market as it is one of the few talent shows that truly brings tension and drama from the first episode.”
“We are honoured by the international recognition of ‘The Four’ – marked by the acquisitions in new territories such as Portugal, as well as the Best Talent Show award from the National Film and TV Awards,” commented Avi Armoza, CEO of Armoza Formats.
