3SS announces Android TV advances

Set-top box (STB) and multiscreen digital entertainment software solutions and services provider 3 Screen Solutions (3SS) has unveiled a series of technical enhancements for Android TV deployments.

The new 3READY Assistant is a product and service offering designed to deliver further choices and benefits to operators as well as their subscribers. It enables extra possibilities for custom device actions, deepening Google Assistant integration for superior Android TV services.

It enables operators to create their own value-adding set of commands to trigger a wide range of desired actions in the app which a viewer might like to do. These could range from customer support related actions including billing queries through to PVR instructions and management of advanced parental control features, among many other use cases.

A key part of the 3READY Assistant service model is continuous enhancement, with new commands and functions being regularly introduced into its vocabulary. Furthermore, operators can define and customise all these options in any Google Assistant compatible language. This says 3SS is a major benefit, promoting subscriber loyalty by enabling deeper engagement with the service using voice technology.

German multiscreen software solutions provider 3 Screen Solutions (3SS) is offering new advances for Android TV deployments, delivering further choices and benefits to operators and their subscribers.
With 3Ready Assistant, enabled by the 3Ready Android TV Operator Tier Custom Launcher, an operator can now create its own set of commands to trigger a wide range of desired actions in the app which the viewer might like to do: These new commands range from customer support related actions including billing queries through to PVR instructions and management of advanced parental control features, among other use cases.

3SS is also one of the first providers in the industry to introduce cloud-to-cloud based Google Assistant integration. This new cloud-centric system configuration option offered by Google differs from conventional device-centric integration projects. Cloud-based Android TV systems enable the operator to more seamlessly manage service delivery on multiple devices in parallel to the set-top-box, according to 3SS. Additionally, the operator can control up to three watch actions which the user can select from within the Google Assistant. In contrast, with on-device implementations, only one watch action can be presented.
3Ready cloud-to-cloud integration also enables operators to remotely optimise and personalise search results, and achieve speedier search results.
