Continuing its momentum since it became a separate entity from the Ericsson brand, MediaKind has racked up another win with DishTV India to enhance the viewing experience of the latter’s customers.
DishTV India, the largest direct-to-home (DTH) service provider in India and world’s largest single-country DTH company, is currently embarked on a process selects to replace its entire head-end infrastructure and cater towards the direct-to-home operations of its brands-DishTV and D2H.
To help achieve its objectives, namely to unlocks the potential to meet today’s consumer demands for access to high quality media content, the company will deploy the MediaKind AVP 4000 video processing platform to deliver enhanced, next-generation immersive experiences to over 23.5 million subscribers. The AVP 4000 video processing platform exists within MediaKind’s Aquila family of solutions, which forms part of the wider MediaKind Universe portfolio.
DishTV is a longstanding customer with multiple generations of MediaKind technology, selected MediaKind to replace its entire head-end infrastructure, which includes existing legacy technology from its D2H brand. Through this deployment, MediaKind says DishTV will be able to evolve and adapt to both traditional broadcast and multiscreen service delivery from a single platform to serve satellite operations for both of its brands and to caters to the evolving needs of its subscribers.
That is, the deployment will enhance DishTV’s operational efficiency by unifying the control and management of its two head-ends in an orchestrated manner. It is also intended to allow DishTV to increase its satellite bandwidth efficiency and deliver superior picture quality to its subscribers, responding to what is described as unprecedented consumer demand for high quality media content choice.
“As a leading DTH provider in India, we are always looking for new ways to deliver a high-quality viewing experience to our millions of customers,” explained DishTV India group CEO Anil Dua. “We are delighted to strengthen our longstanding partnership with MediaKind and leverage its compression technology heritage which extends more than 25 years. Through the deployment of MediaKind’s AVP technology, we can enable the highest video quality for our consumers alongside far greater bandwidth efficiencies, thus enabling us to cost-effectively deliver the next generation services to our subscribers.”
Added MediaKind CEO Angel Ruiz (pictured): “The media landscape is constantly shifting and service providers need to continually adapt to deliver the highest quality media experiences for consumers. At the same time, the increased competition from pure-play online providers means it’s necessary to do this as cost-effectively as possible. We are delighted to extend our relationship with DishTV and to continue evolving its service offering in one of the world’s largest video markets.”
