With the leading content show focusing on Latin America just around the corner, the BBC’s South American division is said to be taking some of its strongest titles in drama to NATPE.
Standout pieces include MotherFatherSon, starring Richard Gere; the fifth season of Luther, with Idris Elba; and the six-part television adaptation of Les Miserables. In the category of children’s content, standouts include Kit & Pup, a science programme for young viewers that blends animation and reality; fact-based entertainment includes Season 27 of Top Gear, with a new trio of hosts featuring Chris Harris, Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff.
The BBC will also be presenting the hit Latin American versions of What Not To Wear and The Great Bake Off, plus new offerings that include dance competition Dancing With the Stars Junior, and One Day that Changed My Life, a format that profiles ordinary families and individuals faced with extraordinary situations.
“With the ample content we can offer for open TV, pay-TV and OTT platforms in Latin America and the US Hispanic market, we are confident that BBC Studios will reach more households than ever, reaffirming its positioning as the market’s best option for acquiring attractive, dynamic and innovative content of the highest quality,” remarked David Hanono, SVP of sales and digital of BBC Studios Latin America/US Hispanic.
