UK-based independent entertainment production company back2back Productions has appointed Scott McDonald to the role of senior development producer to handle increased demand for returning series.
back2back is a wholly independent, full-service TV production company specialising in factual-entertainment series and documentaries. It creates irreverent, unexpected and exciting films for both UK and international broadcasters.
McDonald is the fourth creative executive to take a new role at back2back in the last two months. In early December, Anna Boronat was appointed head of production, alongside Claire Hamilton, who took up the post of senior production executive, and Mitzi David, who moved into the role of junior production executive. back2back says that the spate of new hires reflects the company’s 'significant' expansion over the past year in the wake of a 'rigorous' global strategy.
McDonald comes to back2back from IFA Media, where he served as senior producer for the Singapore-headquartered film, TV and digital-content production group. He now joins back2back’s development team, led by Holly Bigsby, where he will focus on bolstering the Brighton-based indie’s growing slate of returning brands and franchises.
Commenting on the appointment, David Notman-Watt, back2back’s founder and managing director, said: “Scott has extensive experience in development, both in the UK and abroad. He’s also ambitious, energetic and has a real talent for spotting hits in embryonic form. In short, he’ll fit in perfectly with Holly’s extraordinary development team at this exciting time in the back2back growth story.”
