Woodcut Media has been commissioned by Sky-owned free-to-air channel Pick to produce a new factual entertainment series, Paranormal Caught on Camera.
Currently in production and scheduled to premiere on Pick in May 2019, the 6 x 60’ series delves into the realm of the paranormal as leading industry experts attempt to capture evidence of supernatural activity on camera, and document proof of the existence of this phenomenon by conducting thorough investigations in new locations and notorious haunted hotspots, as well as gathering evidence of paranormal activity captured on camera from around the globe.
The series also features contributions from people who have interacted with the afterlife as they describe their first-hand experiences with other realms, backing up their testimonies with evidence, footage and photographs. A panel of experts made up of scientists, believers and sceptics will then analyse the findings, and attempt to unravel the truth behind these mysteries that have haunted humankind.
“We are excited to be returning to the world of Paranormal activity,” commented Marvyn Benoit, commissioning editor, Sky Entertainment and Arts, and executive producer of the series. “Woodcut takes great pride in the shows it makes, and Pick has a strong history of showing programmes that deal with the unexplained. We are looking forward to launching this show later this year.”
Added Matthew Gordon, executive producer, Woodcut Media: “Exploration of all things paranormal never ceases to wane. In this series, we have taken a serious investigative approach and uncovered some truly exciting and inexplicable images, as well as footage caught on camera that we know will intrigue viewers the world over.”
Paranormal Caught on Camera is executive produced by Sky’s Marvyn Benoit and Woodcut’s Matthew Gordon and DRG will act as worldwide distributors. The latter company has also provided deficit financing and other investment for the series. “DRG is delighted to develop its relationship with Woodcut Media and Pick with this fascinating series and is excited to be planning an official international launch at MIPTV this Spring,” remarked Mette Kanne-Behrendsen, DRG’s SVP of acquisitions.
