UK-based pre-school learning and entertainment app provider Hopster has announced that it is launching a new season of its original hit show, Two Minute Tales.

Season One of the app premiered in August 2017, offering what Hopster says was a surprising and fun alternative to the traditional Grimm’s tales.

To be launched in February 2019, the ten 10 new episodes are said to underline Hopster’s mission of challenging traditional gender-norms and promoting diversity, developed to offer traditional stories in a new light. Aligning with Hopster’s core ethos, the show aims to burst gender-stereotypes by retelling classic fairy tales so they are relevant in this day and age. The story of The Very Competitive Mermaid will feature same-sex parents, while The Little Wooden Boy – an episode based on Pinocchio – will encourage children to be inclusive and accept each other’s differences.

“Part of our mission at Hopster is challenging stereotypes, offering inclusive content, and representing all types of people and families,” explained Ellen Solberg, content lead at Hopster and executive producer of Two Minute Tales. “This was a big focus for us when developing the new Two Minute Tales episodes.”

Like the first season, Season 2 of Two Minute Tales was commissioned by Hopster Studios and produced by the Cheshire-based animation production company, The Consortium of Gentlemen. The series will keep its titular format of 10 x 2’ episodes. It will launch on Hopster in February in a themed area dedicated to Two Minute Tales that will include both the first and second season of the show.
