A+E Networks is partnering with Los Angeles-based PPI Releasing for the US broadcast syndication launch of its hard-hitting documentary series Intervention.

The Emmy Award-winning programme aims to bring attention to the social, economic and environmental cost of drug addiction, alcohol abuse and compulsive behaviour. Each episode follows addicts through their daily life and the devastation their dependency has brought to their family and friends. Upon reaching the brink, their loved ones stage a surprise intervention conducted by one of four specialists. In the end, they are pushed to get the help they so desperately need with the hope of turning their lives around before it’s too late.

Intervention is produced by GRB Entertainment for A&E Network. Gary R. Benz, Michael Branton and Dan Partland are executive producers. Sam Mettler is executive consultant. Targeting the US 2019-2020 broadcast season, 175 episodes of the programme will be launched into syndication at NATPE 2019 in Miami.

“PPI is the perfect partner to deliver this important series to the syndication marketplace,” said A+E Networks International executive managing directors Patrick Vien and Edward Sabin in a joint statement. “We acknowledge PPI’s long-running expertise in domestic distribution and are delighted with their commitment to this acclaimed series, a series that highlights one of the most vital and important issues of the day.”

“What makes this series incredibly effective television is the emotional conflict at the heart of every Intervention,” added PPI co-founder, Ritch Colbert. “This conflict is real, it’s passionate, and it touches every family in America today. We applaud GRB and A+E Networks for their singular achievement, and we are humbled by the opportunity to launch Intervention in syndication.”
