Telemundo notches big ratings for Exatlon premiere

The premiere of Exatlon on US Hispanic broadcast network Telemundo ranked as the top-rated Spanish-language programme this week during its time slot among adults 18-34.

Hosted by Erasmo Provenza and produced by Acun Medya for Telemundo, Exatlon is a family-friendly programme that seeks to find the participant with the strongest physical and mental skills through a series of obstacle courses, extreme life conditions and total isolation from the rest of the world. The show claimed an average of 319,000 viewers for its second-season debut, according to Nielsen.

The return of the reality show was also the No 1 most-social Hispanic entertainment programme of the day, generating more than 96,000 total interactions across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, according to Nielsen Social. In addition, the premiere of the new season of Exatlon outperformed the premiere of the first season by 42% among adults 18-49.

Locally, the new season premiere of Exatlon ranked No 1 in its daypart, regardless of language, among adults 18-49 and total viewers in Miami. Exatlon also ranked as the No 1 Spanish language program in its daypart among adults 18-49 and total viewers in New York.

The news comes as the premiere of Telemundo’s La Voz in the US, the Hispanic version of The Voice format ranked this week as the No 1 reality show in Spanish-language television among adults 18-34 that night.
