of course... the driver works on windows vista. It creates a virtual COM port on your operation system and uses that.

I have an infinity USB card reader that creates it own virtual com port and pretends to be a pheonix device. Will it still work? sounds great.

Yes! You can set any Com port for it. It has individualy name and Number that's why It will use the very same port always...anytime you will restart your computer. If you set manually the virtual com port (etc. Com 6) than it will use that. I am working a very important problem, because I would like to works on any Dreambox system.

Re: the best Usb Smartcard reader

the pheonix device is the one to go for i think, although i hear something new is available which aparently has a faster speed at doing things than the pheonix. I believe in the pheonix you can use it as a slave card reader to your master one by editing the config files of your card slot, also you can swap the cams inside it so defo a good one to go for.

you can attach the pheonix to receivers such as the dreambox if it is unlucky enough to only have the one card slot like mine does and i hear that it does work but i don't have one as i don't need it. Aslong as the receiver has a serial rs232 9 pin connection you are ok.

You can pick them up now for about £40 on certain auction websites (you know the one i mean), or an online satellite shop
