Telemundo, Movistar+ ink content partnership

Telemundo International Studios and Telefónica’s TV business Movistar+ have signed a strategic multi-year co-production partnership to produce premium limited series for the US and international markets.

The Spanish-language Telemundo network will have the exclusive rights for the US; Movistar+ will have the exclusive rights for Spain.

"This is the right time for these two great companies to come together,” said Marcos Santana, president at Telemundo Global Studios. “We are natural partners with the ability to raise the quality standards and continue to lead in the development and production of premium content for millions of Spanish-speaking viewers around the world.”

Sergio Oslé, president of Movistar+, added: “Our firm commitment to original fiction production has allowed us, during the last year, to reinforce our leadership in Spain and strengthen our position in Latin America. The agreement that we present today will allow both companies to grow in scale, conquering new markets and combining the best capabilities for the development of quality fiction in Spanish.”
