Furthering the deals that it struck in 2018 for the US OTT channels, content aggregator and distributor Digital Media Rights (DMR) has locked in a deal with Grasshopper Films for six films to stream on channels AsianCrush and YuYuTV.
The leading Asian streamer and its general entertainment platform https://www.rapidtvnews.com/20180720...ott-debut.html offer films lovers thousands of hours of acclaimed international programming featuring films from leading auteurs such as Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance), Lee Chang-dong (Peppermint Candy, Oasis), Ang Lee (Pushing Hands), Benoit Jacquot (The School of Flesh, Right Now), Eric Rohmer (Romance of Astree and Celadon), and Claude Chabrol (Quiet Days in Clichy).
Among the films soon premiering on AsianCrush and YuYuTV Are From What Is Before, winner of the Best Film Golden Leopard at Locarno; Right Now, Wrong Then, described as an intricate masterwork from Hong Sang-soo; Kaili Blues, a feature debut that has collected prizes around the world from filmmaker Bi Gan; and Pere Portabella’s newly restored Vampir-Cuadecuc, filmed on the set of Franco’s cult film Count Dracula.
“With FilmStruck, Fandor and Drama Fever closing down their services, we feel we’re well positioned to garner a lot of interest from viewers seeking arthouse fare and programming that’s off the beaten path,” commented Michael Hong, CEO of Digital Media Rights. “With a deep catalogue featuring thousands of hours of curated content and an ad-supported, no-fee model, we’ve seen strong year over year growth since the launch of both channels. And, these acclaimed new releases from Grasshopper Films give film fans even more reason to spend some time on our OTT platforms.”
AsianCrush and Yuyu TV are both available on the web, iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast and additional platforms. While both OTT channels are available to consumers on an AVOD model, AsianCrush also offers a premium subscription, offering access the entire selection of titles without commercials.
