Content protection and multiscreen TV solutions provider Nagra announced today that it has extended its partnership with Taiwanese cable operator kbro to include the service provider’s new hybrid cable and OTT-based 4K Ultra HD service.
kbro claims to be the top-ranking multi-service operator in its domestic cable pay-TV market and its selection of content ranges from local offerings to global programming. A Nagra customer since 2009, kbro has deployed the Connect solution in 2018 on top of the existing conditional access and OpenTV OTT back-end platform.
Nagra says that it now and will enable kbro to fulfil ‘the most rigid’ content protection requirements, including early release content. It will also secure the operator’s 4K Ultra HD services on Android TV in early 2019.
“As a leading supplier of content protection solutions, Nagra has a proven track record in delivering robust security solutions that are endorsed by the studios and protect businesses from piracy,” said kbro chief technology officer Alex Hsieh. “As such, Nagra was the clear choice to secure this deployment, which represented a minimal upgrade to our existing platform and gives us the peace of mind that our 4K content investment remains secure.”
