Sony has announced four new TV lines for 2019 – the XG83, XG81, XG80 and XG70 all geared at providing a 4K HDR TV experience and smart TV functionality.
They all come in a variety of screen sizes to fit different living room set-ups. The XG83 features Sony’s proprietary 4K HDR Processor X1 with Object-based HDR remaster and Super Bit Mapping HDR technology to reproduce enhanced depth, textures and natural colours.
The XG83, XG81, XG80 and XG70 series meanwhile employ Sony’s 4K X-Reality PRO technology, which upscales and sharpens images closer to 4K quality. They also have the TRILUMINOS Display technology on board.
In the smart features department, the XG83, XG81 and XG80 feature Sony Android TV which supports a wide range of apps from Google Play, including YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and others. The XG83, XG81 and XG80 TVs also have Google Assistant built-in, so viewers can talk to the remote to discover content, or to play TV shows and films.
The XG70 has a built-in Internet browser, Freeview Play and one-click access to Netflix and YouTube apps3.
In terms of looks, the TVs come in premium aluminium (XG83) or brushed aluminium-look bezel (XG81, XG80 and XG70), and have stands that can conceal cables.
