India’s Epic Channel is to broadcast a new weekly mini-series called Saamagri Aur Sampatti from 6 February.
Taking a conversational format with animated illustrations, the series traces how the trade in commodities shaped the world as we know it, and how India played a pivotal role in the process.
In addition to yoga, chess and the number zero, India was known centuries ago for its zinc mining and cultivation of sesame, the first seed from which oil was extracted.
The nine-part series will reveal the country’s legacy of trade and its global impact.
“Making content at Epic is always fun and a great learning curve,” said Akul Tripathi, content and programming head, Epic Channel . “This series is a great starting point to how India, through its trade, shaped world commerce, politics, and even world history.”
