Big Ganga preps original Bhojpuri dramas

Zee Entertainment’s Bhojpuri entertainment channel Big Ganga is adding drama to its content with the launch of two originals for Mahashivratri.

Additionally, Big Ganga’s non-fiction show Memsaab’s Season 9 is returning as Memsaab No. 1, while a topical stand-up show Raag Chunaavi will join the channel’s weekend line-up.

Seeking to deliver regionally relevant premium content, Ideas Entertainment is producing a rom-com titled Bagal Wali Jaan Maareli, and Sagar Productions is working on the socio-mythological drama Divya Shakti.

“Having already made a mark in the region when it comes to delivering original content, this is surely an interesting time for all of us. Keeping in mind the high demand for such shows, we have decided to foray into the Bhojpuri fiction genre and offering our audience more hours of original content every week,” said Amarpreet Singh Saini, business head, Big Ganga.

“These shows are giving us an opportunity to diversify and expand our audience base hence catering to each and every age group...We have some of the best names from the industry working on these projects and we are confident to up the entertainment quotient further for the region’s audience. We are looking forward to creating magic on the screen with such talented teams.”

Producer of Bagal Wali Jaan Maareli, Paritosh Painter said Ideas Entertainment was “glad” to venture into Bhojpuri content “as it is inherently a culture which loves and cherishes masti, fun, and happy environment”.

He added: “We are trying to produce regional quirk-filled full-on entertainment offering which we are sure viewers can cherish with their families.”
