Amazon Prime Video greenlights more than 20 new, returning TV series

In a massive upping of its ambition to appeal to the tastes of audiences for local original content, Amazon has confirmed the commission of more than 20 new and returning Prime Original Series to go into production in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, Japan and Mexico.

The New Prime Original series include contemporary global ten-part thriller The Power in the UK and well as Jeremy Clarkson-led motoring show The Grand Tour; romantic drama La Templanza and history doc El Cid for Spanish audiences; dram for Italian audiences; Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo, the story of Christiane F in 1970s Berlin; romantic musical Bandish Bandits, crime thriller The Last Hour and an as yet unnamed youth-focused political drama for India; true crime series El Presidente, comedy El Juego de las Llaves and untitled political thriller, drama and sci-fi/horror comedy in Mexico; localalised Japanese reality dating competition format The Bachelorette plus the return of popular variety show series Documental.

In addition to being available to local audiences, many of the Prime Original series will be available to stream for a global audience on Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
