The world’s self-proclaimed only 24/7 HD TV channel dedicated to short films, ShortsTV, has renewed its linear distribution agreement with Belgian cable operator Telenet.
As part of the deal, the channel, which is localised in Dutch and available in HD, will be part of the Liberty Global subsidiary’s basic digital TV offer and available to over 1.7 million Telenet subscribers.
Distributed across the US, Europe, India and Latin America, ShortsTV brings audiences what it claims are the best short movies from around the world, including hours of original Flemish content and award-winning films. Its library contains over 5,000 titles available on TV, online and in theatres encompassing live action, animated and documentary shorts from around the world. In 2018, ShortsTV launched the ShortsTV App which combines the linear ShortsTV feed with online functionality. Machine-learning algorithm technology enables ShortsTV App viewers to either watch TV or to create, control and personalise their own TV channel.
Commenting on the deal, Jesse Bergsma, EMEA president at ShortsTV said: “We are very proud of our long-lasting partnership with Telenet and are thrilled that all Telenet subscribers can now watch our great movies, including some of the best Flemish short films, on ShortsTV.”
Added Telenet senior vice-president residential marketing Jeroen Bronselaer: “We are delighted that all our Telenet TV customers will now be able to enjoy the strong movie offer of ShortsTV, the worldwide reference in short movie entertainment.”
