Reflecting what it said is the growing role of original commissions within its expanding portfolio, London-based rights-ownership and distribution company TCB Media Rights has greenlit two more factual series.

Moving into production is 10 x 60’ Shocking Emergency Calls from Hunch Media, a new production house specialising in factual, true-crime, non-scripted factual entertainment and entertainment programmes; and Underground Worlds, also 10 x 60 from Phoenix Television, another up-and-coming UK indie that focuses on factual, factual entertainment and reality.

Each episode of Shocking Emergency Calls has been pre-sold to Seven Network Australia and examines three disturbing incidents that started with a call for help and which set the stage for extraordinary stories of crime and courage. These range from killers confessing to murder to petrified victims in need of urgent assistance; to witnesses describing horrific events as they unfold in front of their eyes to blatant liars attempting to cover up their misdeeds.

By no little contrast, Underground Worlds, digs into weird and wonderful underground structures both man-made and natural examining subterranean feats of engineering that have to date remained shrouded in mystery. Underground Worlds investigates who built what, where — and why.

“The strategy of getting involved in content creation is now starting to pay dividends,” said Paul Heaney, founder and CEO of TCB Media Rights talking about the new slate. “We are always learning and hopefully improving how we manage this new endeavour - matching the demands of our buyer community with the skills of our incredible producer-partners. The result is a strong pipeline of fresh, original and marketable programming, of which World’s Most Shocking Emergency Calls and Underground Worlds are prime examples. Greenlighting these shows is a hell of a responsibility but we have the infrastructure and support to do so.”
