MWC 2019: ZEE5, Apigate announce ‘landmark’ content partnership

Multi-lingual digital entertainment platform ZEE5 has forged a strategic partnership with API ecosystem provider Apigate to deliver its content bouquet of across languages and genres to audiences globally.
The Zee Entertainment Enterprises subsidiary’s offer comprises 100,000 hours of Indian films, TV shows, news, videos and a slew of exclusive originals, across 12 languages - English, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Oriya, Bhojpuri, Gujarati and Punjabi, along with over 60 live TV channels. It includes Hindi and Bengali original shows like Rangbaaz, Kaali and the upcoming Sharate Aaj, original films like Aranyadeb and Tigers as well as digital premieres like Namaste England and Praktan.
Apigate offers what it calls a new-breed application programming interface (API) platform that connects an ecosystem with a reach of 3.5 billion customers, over 110 MNOs and more than 300 connected merchants. The collaboration with Apigate will bring ZEE5’s content to audiences in 11 countries globally, taking advantage of Apigate’s next-generation API ecosystem to create value propositions for customers. ZEE5 will be using not only direct carrier billing but also going beyond that to offer bundling, wallets and application to person messaging for all subscribers.
