Global independent content creator and distributor Armoza Formats has announced the launch for the MIPTV content market of Drama Team produced series Muna.
The 8x30’ drama was created by the Palestinian-Israeli musician Mira Awad, inspired by her own journey as Israel’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009.It follows the story of a successful and free-spirited Arab-Israeli photographer. Together with her Israeli boyfriend and her best friend, Muna has created a life for herself in Tel Aviv, far from the Arab village in which she grew up. But when she is chosen to represent Israel at a prestigious international photography exhibition, her traditional father sees this as a betrayal of her people and of her roots.
Set in a time of war, when violence and conflict forces everyone to pick sides, Muna is torn between two worlds and must choose with whom her true loyalties lie.
The series aired on Israel’s public broadcasting corporation Kan in prime time. Commenting on the series, its CEO Eldad Koblenz said: “CEO of Kan, Israel, “’Muna’ is an excellent example of Kan’s diverse and high-end content, which deals with complex and sensitive topics from all facets of Israel’s population. Kan invests millions of shekels per year in Israeli productions and reveals them on all its platforms on the radio, television and digitally.”
Armoza Formats is distributing the series as finished tapes and as a format. CEO Avi Armoza added: “Muna brings to the screen a unique truth behind one of the most complex conflicts in history and the way it impacts those involved. The high quality of the acting, writing and production, combined with Mira Awad’s compelling story, makes Muna a one-of-a-kind drama and we are proud to be launching it to the global market.”
